Listen to a Life Essay Contest
Sponsored by the American Legacy Foundation, the Listen to a Life Essay Contest is an opportunity to build closer connections between the young and old. The contest requires young people (aged 8-18) to interview older people and create an essay based upon what they learn from their interviews. The essays should discuss the interviewees' hopes and goals throughout their lives, how they achieved these goals and overcame obstacles, and how their dreams may have changed along the way. One winner will receive a free Lenovo TinkCentre computer, $800 of Orchard software, iPod nano, and $25,000 of Orchard software for their school. Twenty runner-ups will win $400 of Orchard software and an MP3 player.
